LUXOMME

The new addition to my cousin's happy family is a fiesty (not so little) turtle named Nigel, although Chloe insists his name is Tchaikovsky. We can't figure out his age or if Nigella would be more appropriate, but we do know he loves long tans on his rock. My cousin also promised that I could go over and visit any time I wanted!

But in all seriousness, I don't think I ever really appreciated how much work a pet can be. Even a turtle that doesn't really move or do much can take a lot of energy to support. From the perspective of time and of money, it's a big commitment. I've wanted a turtle for ages, but honestly lack the time and the patience to take care of one. It was a very sobering realization for me that the idea of something is sometimes more entertaining than reality. That and everything requires hard work and commitment.
