Boys Night Out

I crashed boys night out.
Sort of, but not actually. One thing that I haven't mentioned that much this year is my work and the people I work with. Not going into specifics about what I do other than the fact that it involves a lot of tests and complicated protocols, what makes work so much fun are my colleagues. We all arrive bright and early, say our good mornings, hover around the coffee pot for a few minutes, and then organize ourselves for the work set out for us that day. In between those times are laughs, deep conversations, extreme sassiness, and genuine support for one another at work and in our personal lives.
Heading into work today was a bit of a snooze since my day didn't start until a bit later. Usually, when I have more time to prepare, I'll try to pull myself together a bit more. And a bit more meaning that I actually make an effort to brush my hair.
Today was one of those days, and I had a bit of a ZARA moment where everything I pulled on was purchased on one shopping trip there.
Heading to work was a long drive today, and the original plan was to go for coffee with Darren after we were both done, because he is addicted to the caffeine and coffee is his jam.
Feeling particularly famished midway through my work, I realized that coffee wasn't going to cut it for me, and that I had to re-evaluate my decision. Wanting real food, with a substantial portion to cure my empty stomach, I convinced Darren to go for dinner instead. Two of my colleagues Alan and Ali were still hanging around after hours, mainly because I forced them to do final weights with me, so of course, I jumped at the chance of having dinner with them too.
So actually, it was technically coffee with Darren, turned into boys night out with me.
We hopped, skipped our way to Stella's which was brisk and chilly walk away from our office. It's located right next to a hair salon, so I joked that the next time we went out, we could all get our nails and hair done together. Naturally, that idea was rejected. Typical.
The boys deliberated over their food choices for most of the evening, and the rest of it was spent discussing sports, how to paint Easter eggs, and the mysterious hole in the wall left by a co-worker.
It's always nice to be able to find people you naturally click with, and even rarer to have those whom you can be yourself around. I'm hoping that even after we all move on from our position here, it'll still be easy to keep in contact with each other. Work isn't always easy, especially this month since we have 5-6 different projects going on, but these boys and all my other co-workers keep me sane throughout all that.
Thankful for them and for these kind of nights.
